This is so gorgeous! I'm absolutely in love with the contrasting colors you've used here. The painting is so striking, and brings up many feelings for me. I think the character adds a lot of story to the work, as well. I can't stop staring at all the lovely details, from the light shining through her gown to the beautiful clouds... Superb!

thanks so much! Nowadays, I usually do very quick, rough paints in photoshop on one layer which I then paint over. This was the beginning crappy paint for this piece - [link] although you can see where I started to detail the cloud along the bottom ridge on the left. The composition didn't change at all from the beginning, but often I'll do a few super quick composition sketches either in photoshop or on paper, just to get an idea of where I'm going. Also, sometimes I work in greyscale first and then colorize, but this one was color from the start. I do occasionally scan my sketches and do a paint in photoshop.
